Case Study 1
Business wanted to create a new family of WiFi modular routers. Discovery research was needed to better understand Families’ WiFi needs in homes filled with WiFi devices. Home interviews were conducted and personas were created to help direct the business in its solution and marketing. Personas were successfully rolled out and heavily influenced marketing, packaging, guidance marketing, design, and PM
Case Study 2
Business wanted to add security features to a home automation app. The menu hasn’t been tested with users much less the placement of where security features should be. Evaluative research was needed to assess the interface architectural flow. Card sorting was conducted first to gauge users’ mental model of how features should be organized then tree testing to evaluate success of findability. Tree testing validated the design and security features were subsequently released in future app releases.
Case Study 3
A movie ticketing partner insisted that we implemented an AI-based automatic seat recommendation without giving users the option to manually select their seats. Third party research showed wide variation on where people sit but this was not enough. We needed to identify which ticketing experiences users prefered if they were presented with manual seating selection vs without. Based on research goals a parallel design test was conducted between 2 different designs and in 2 different scenarios (ample vs limited seats). Design with manual seat selection outperformed the AI only design.
